Counting Bee
A whole-room game presented by Ann Daniels (Iolanthe) and Jon Zingman (Plaid) at Equinox 60.
Neil Picciotto (Renfield) compiled the word list.
A version of this game was created by Henri Picciotto, and was played at a very early Equinox party.
Two people get up. A word is read from a list by the emcee.
The first person to correctly state how many letters are in the word wins, and faces another person. After four wins, a player sits down.
A final round can be played among the people who won four times in the first round.

Opposites Attract
You are given a word that doesn't have an obvious opposite, and write down what you deem its best opposite. Your score is the number of people who had the same answer, with a maximum of 10. Highest total score wins. In other words you don't strive for originality! you want to guess what the most popular answer will be.
The game was created for Equinox 11 by Scott Marley (Hudu), and reprised at Equinox 50 by Ann and Jon (Iolanthe and Plaid).
It turns out the game works best with maybe 30 people max. Scoring gets too slow with, say, 70. In that situation, it's best to play it by tables, and quickly share the best ideas at the end.
