A fictionary variation by Dean Howard (Shrdlu), from Equinox 26.
Find interesting, unknown acronyms, and pass them out on slips of paper so each person has one. Play in groups of perhaps eight. Each player reads his or her acronym to the group, and everyone tries to come up with a plausible (or funny) expansion. (For example in one group, one of the acronyms was NFPI, which was interpreted by a player to be National Foundation for the Prevention of Infanticide, but was actually National Frozen Pizza Institute.)
Then, as in fictionary, everyone tries to guess the real expansion. If points are to be scored, each person gets one point for a correct guess, and one point for each person who guessed the phony expansion they contributed.
