Transdeletion Twins

A paper-and-pencil puzzle from Equinox 54 - Transdeletion Twins, by Jim Propp (Aesop)

(Jim says this was recycled from a past Equinox Party.)

The puzzle is created collectively by all present (instructions 1), then solved in small teams (instructions 2).

Here is the puzzle we created at Equinox 54, and its solution.

Jim writes:
I'm embarrassed to have included the misspelled word TAMBORINE in the puzzle, and I apologize to anyone whose attempts to solve the puzzle were hampered by the misspelling.  The lesson here for anyone who attempts to run Transdeletion Twins at a future party is, run the words through a spell-checker!  (This would have been easy to do, since I had the files on my laptop.)
The other lesson I learned is to make it clear ahead of time whether back-solving is in the spirit of the game or whether solvers are expected to have honestly solved all the clues, and to enforce this consistently.
