Serious Kidding

This puzzle was created to honor the memory of one of our longtime Equinoxers, Barbara Selfridge, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly a few months ago.

Many of us remember her gentle wit and creative and non-linear approach to puzzle solving. Barbara was among the earliest Equinox attendees, a long-standing member of the Smokey Joe’s weekend morning cryptic crossword group in Berkeley, and a beloved member of the National Puzzlers League. She was also a talented writer and performer, and a good and loyal friend.

The title of the puzzle is a reference to her collection of stories, Serious Kissing, and to Banterweight, her ‘nom’ in the NPL.
